The Sussex ME/CFS Society is a constituted registered charity that works with the national patient organisations Action for ME and Association for Young People with ME.

Our aim is to disseminate information, and give support through newsletters, meetings and telephone contacts. We receive regular support from the local authorities, businesses and trusts.

The organisation is managed by a small team of volunteers that include the charity's trustees. The work is shared by the committee and other volunteers including those that run special interest groups.

The group is a member organisation of the Brighton and Hove Federation of Disabled and also subscribes to the Carers Centre, the ME/CFS medical updates, Eastbourne Association of Voluntary Services, Hastings and Rother Disabled Forum, Brighton Community Health Council, Brighton Council for Voluntary Services and The Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome Association of America.

The organisation has six honorary patrons. These are Sir Andrew Bowden MBE, Elizabeth,Countess of Craven, Simon Kirby MP, Russell Grant, Mike Wheatherley MP and Miss Jenny Seagrove.

Group officers often work with AfME's head office staff and the organisation's Chariman Colin Barton was a member of the Government's Chief Medical Officer's ME/CFS Working Party. Group officers have working relations and easy access to the Group's advisors Professor Anthony Pinching, DR Keith Hine, DR Alan Stewart, DR Kamal Patel, Dr Susie Rockwell and Prof Leslie Findley

The organisation has worked hard in keeping regular contact with members of the medical profession and support agencies in Sussex and has kept ME/CFS in high profile through the local media.
